Who We Are

In the summer of 2025, a person was spotted feeding one of the foxes that lived on Spencer Farlow Ave. People became concerned about their lack of fear of humans and called a removal service. Residents were told that the foxes would be relocated, but later learned that that was a lie. Foxes are prohibited from being relocated in North Carolina. Those foxes were euthanized.

Children of the nearby community saw the fox being trapped and taken away. They were distraught, as well most of the neighbors that enjoyed watching the fox family playing and frolicking. Although those foxes could not be saved, this tragedy shed a light on the need for wildlife education and advocacy in our area and Pleasure Island Wildlife was created within a few weeks.

To accomplish our mission, PIWA publishes and distributes educational materials about:

1- How to preserve and protect the wildlife that calls Pleasure Island home (NEVER feed them), and

2- Who they can contact if they encounter a sick or injured animal.

A resident/visitor is photographed feeding a fox in a pool area. This single event, led to the euthanizing of multiple foxes.

NEVER FEED THE WILDLIFE.
